Short trousers with straight legs and a simple waistband, made to stay cool. Today they are worn as relaxed summer clothing.
At Jaulhac, a rural locality near Lascelle in the Cantal, such shorts were suited to long days spent outdoors. The setting encouraged walking between buildings, working in the grounds, and moving through fields and woodland paths. In this practical landscape of gardens, storage rooms, and open air, the garment supported an active daytime routine rather than formal dress.
