In French Guiana, where Eugène Le Moult grew up, pyjamas of this cut were practical for daily use in an equatorial setting where heat, humidity, and heavy rainfall made lighter clothing essential.


French Guiana’s equatorial position gives it constant warmth above 30 °C, humidity near saturation, and rainfall across most months. Clothing had to combine breathability with protection. European garments were designed for cooler climates, so pyjamas became suitable for daily wear in Guiana, offering light coverage while adjusting to tropical conditions.
